WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS
Buying of selected index stocks and higher regional markets caused the KLCI to touch a record high of 1,449.70 points on Friday. The index closed at 1,434.04 points for a gain of 2.7% for the week.
Regional markets closed higher as U.S. markets rose on expectations of lower U.S. interest rates and government measures to freeze interest rates on selected U.S. sub-prime mortgages for five years.
The local market is expected to continue to take its cue from regional markets as investors monitor the outlook for economic growth and interest rates in the U.S
