Market wrap report for the week ended 10 October 2008.
WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS
Led by the sell-down in global markets, the KLCI fell to a 26-month low of 931.79 points amid fears that the global credit crisis may dampen global economic activities. The KLCI closed at 934.01 points to register a loss of 8.1% for the week.
The sharp decline in U.S. markets on Thursday triggered a contagion effect throughout regional markets with most markets registering double-digit losses over the week.
The market is anticipated to move in tandem with overseas markets as investors monitor the outlook for the U.S. credit market, global economic growth and interest rates.
