Market wrap report for the week ended 8 May 2009

Follow-through buying of selected index-linked stocks led the KLCI to an 8-month intraday high of 1,037.8 points on Thursday before closing at 1,026.8 for a gain of 3.6% over the week.

Regional markets advanced as concerns over the health of U.S. financial institutions eased following the U.S. governments recent stress tests. Selected markets such as Singapore , Hong Kong and China H shares registered double-digit gains over the week.

The market is anticipated to move in tandem with overseas markets as investors monitor the outlook for the U.S. credit market, global economic growth and interest rates.
